Center for Organ Recovery & Education Recognizes Melissa Curtis as the Recipient of 2014 Donate Life Award

– Winner Announced at Recent University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing Gala Event –

WHAT:          CORE was pleased to recognize Melissa Curtis of UPMC Presbyterian as the recipient of the 2014 Donate Life Award at the 16th annual Cameos of Caring, held by the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing.

WHEN:          The ceremony was held on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 6:00 p.m.

WHERE:        David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Spirit of Pittsburgh Ballroom

DETAILS:     The Cameos of Caring Donate Life Award is given to a nurse who consistently demonstrates compassion for the dying. At the same time, that nurse can see beyond the tragedy of someone’s death to see a brighter tomorrow for another person through organ donation.

Melissa Curtis, a resident of Imperial, serves as a clinician on the neurovascular intensive care unit and has been a passionate, tireless supporter of organ donation at UPMC Presbyterian.  She fosters a culture of organ donation among hospital staff and addresses the emotional needs of families as their loved one gives the gift of life through organ donation.
