CORE Named Charity Recipient for ‘Taste the Good Life’ Benefit

—Proceeds from Oct. 29 Event will Aid CORE’s New Bereavement Program—

Pittsburgh, Sept. 29, 2015 – Supporters of the Center for Organ Recovery & Education (CORE) now have an alluring new opportunity to make A Pledge for Life.

CORE was recently named the charity recipient for Taste the Good Life, a food-centric fundraising event in Latrobe, Pa., taking place from 7-10 p.m. on October 29, 2015, whose proceeds are donated to one select charity.

“Our work at CORE is truly about saving—and celebrating—life,” said Susan Stuart, president and CEO of CORE. “It’s a tremendous honor to be named the charity recipient for Taste the Good Life, which will help us make life a little easier for those who, once touched by organ donation, never take life for granted.”

Founded in 1994 by restaurant owner Joseph DiSalvo, Taste the Good Life is a gala hosted at DiSalvo’s Station Restaurant in Latrobe, featuring stations that offer gourmet food, including scallops, lamb, oysters, filet mignon, pasta and more, to wine, spirits, desserts and fine cigars in addition to entertainment, raffles and a live auction.

“Taste the Good Life was founded as an opportunity for us at DiSalvo’s to give back to our community,” DiSalvo said. “We select only Western Pennsylvania’s most worthy charities as our event’s beneficiaries. CORE’s important mission to save lives through organ donation is the perfect example of why we host this benefit.”

Corporate sponsorship opportunities are still available for Taste the Good Life. All sponsorships include event tickets that can be shared with customers and/or employees. The proceeds donated to CORE through Taste the Good Life will go directly toward funding the organization’s new Bereavement Program, an initiative designed to help the parents, grandparents, spouses, children, families and friends of those who have donated organs.

The Bereavement Program will provide grieving families with resources such as memorial keepsakes, sympathy cards, workshops, art exhibits, events and more.

To purchase tickets, please contact Colleen Sullivan of CORE at csullivan@core.org.  For more information on Taste the Good Life, visit www.tastethegoodlife.org.
